Scotland Island Dog Race - 24/12/14

 

Held in Sydney every year, The Scotland Island Dog Race is a popular community event and a much-loved local tradition. Canine lovers must paddle alongside their dog as they swim from the island to the mainland.

We went to the media launch of VIVID for 2012 and interviewed the Producer Mr Igntius Hones! This year was even better then the last, bringing imagination and colour to Sydney's CBD.

Scotland Island Dog Race - 24/12/2010

 

Every Christmas Eve, the Scotland Island Dog race is held. This year 62 dogs will race from Scotland Island, on Pittwater NSW to Church Point on the mainland. For the last five years "Cooper" has been the winner...see what happens this year....

Mirazozo - 27/1/11

 

A sculpture that you enter to be immersed in radiant light and colour. Since 1992, Architects of Air's Luminarias have enchanted over 2 million visitors in 38 countries around the world. Mirazozo is inspired by nature, geometry and Islamic architecture. Its original feature is the "Illuminated seam" that is found in the principal domes. The luminosity of light and colour inside the luminaria is created purely by the daylight shinning through the coloured plastic. The luminarias are handmade in a workshop in Nottingham, England

Kimbriki Tip - 14/8/2011

 

Kimbriki tip is a Resource Recovery Centre in Terry Hills, where they not only get rid of your rubbish. They recycle 70% of all the rubish. They can recycle almost anything, from the old shopping trollies to old tyres. They have a very unique Eco House and Garden where they teach students about recycling. They are creating a better world for you and me.

One for the trees - 26/10/2010

 

The endangered Pittwater Spotted Gum Ecosystem is currently under attack, not just by weeds and feral animals, but also by man. Sometimes the trees get their revenge... what a wonderful world...

Water Police - 15/12/2010

 

In 1789 Govenor Philip formed the first Water Police Unit in NSW. It was the first police presence in NSW. They used simple row boats to detect smugglers. Now in the 21st Century, the Water Police use the lastest technology. Today they do breath testing and investigate crimes scenes, they are truly special people who devote their lives to rescusing people like me.

German Exchange - 2/6/2011

 

On the 2nd of June, m class and I went on an exchange to German. We went to Munich, Berlin and Frankfurt. When we arrived in Munich we met my brother, Dieter. From there we travelled all over Munich, to butchers and bakeries In Berlin we went to Art Galleries and Check Point Charlie. In Frankfurt we went to our host families and had lots of fun, at the local german school. It was a trip we will never forget.

Church Point Post Office 28/11/2010

 

The Church Point Post Office is one of the most unique post offices in Australia. It only got efpos in 2010. It was established in 1905 and servies the small communites in the waterway of pitwater

Power Plant - 27/1/2011

 

Sydney Festival presents Power Plant at the Chinese Gardens in Sydney. Power Plant is a collaboration between 5 visual and sound artists led by Mark Anderson, who specializes in site specific installations on a grand scale. Together they will animate and illuminate one of Sydney's  most serene locations through as series os spectacular installations inspired by the natural environment.
